4C (Common Code for the Coffee Community) is a sustainability certification scheme for the coffee industry. 4C certification focuses on good agricultural and management practices, including requirements on economic, social and environmental conditions for coffee production and processing in order to establish credible sustainable and transparent supply chains. Independent certification bodies verify compliance with the 4C requirements. 4C operates in 20 countries and is the largest certification system in the coffee sector. It is also a highly innovative standard working on a variety of crucial topics such as reduction and offsetting of carbon footprint, biodiversity improvement and empowering women in coffee.

  • Set up and take the lead on robust 4C internal and external monitoring system from conceptional developments to implementation and impact reporting
  • Lead periodic impact and outcome evaluation studies
  • Develop structures and procedures for improving and extending the structures at 4C including alignment activities towards ISEAL Code Compliance and other relevant standards
  • Being responsible for organizing internal and external data collection structures and procedures and their analysis
  • Lead on impact measurement and all relevant data collection from relevant stakeholders and system users, including the preparation and creation of the 4C Impact Report
  • Carry out impact evaluations, performance reporting, development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Develop and prepare data reports to be support the sustainability reporting of Final Buyers of 4C certified coffee
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the 4C System


  • Master's degree in agricultural science, agronomy, economics, or related fields
  • At least three years of professional experience
  • At least three years experience in Monitoring and Evaluation of agricultural commodities supply chains
  • Experience in development of Theory of change models
  • Knowledge of project evaluations, outcome arvesting, in-depth Monitoring and Evaluation analytics, or impact reporting
  • Knowledge of data analysis tool and ability to write high quality reports
  • Experience in certification or other environmental and social standards in the agricultural sector (e.g. Rainforest Alliance, UTZ, CAFÉ Practices, Global G.A.P.) is of advantage
  • Proficient knowledge of ISO/ISEAL requirements
  • Proactive and independent working style
  • High proficiency in English; additional language skills in Spanish, Portuguese, French or Vietnamese of advantage
  • Proficient knowledge of the standard EDP tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Team player with intercultural sensibility
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally
